Yes, One Masala Dosa is back after a year and half away. It's time to introduce you to Marayoor, a small town in the western ghats of South India in the state of Kerala and close to the border with Tamil Nadu state. Check out Wikipedia for some info and an idea of where it is. Marayoor is located on the western flank of a valley several miles wide, and is surrounded by a U shape of mountains to the west, east and south. It's this valley aspect of it that makes it enchanting, you only need to walk a few hundred metres out onto the valley floor or up a hill to the west of the town and the valley reveals its immense scale.
OMD spent a few days in Marayoor in April 2010 after a few days in Munnar as described below. The ambience of Marayoor was so great that we're returning there in a few days time to enjoy the climate, people, scenery, toddy, and everything else that it provides in abundance.
Of course, during the visit last year loads of photos were taken so here we go.

The photos above and below aren't in Marayoor, but in Chinnar Widlife Sanctuary which is right on the border between the states of Kerala and Tamil Nadu on the Munnar to Udumalpet road.

The river above and the bridge crossing it below is the border between Kerala and Tamil Nadu.

Marayoor is big on agriculture, there's loads of everything grown here in the great climate. Above is a "factory" for processing sugar cane into jaggery, or unrefined brown sugar. The fireplace for the huge mixing bowl containing the sugar is below.
